I just wanted to say a quick hi and introduce myself..
I had previously tried running many years ago and discovered what shin splints were! With no proper plan or training I gave up the idea and stuck with cycling, something I’ve done most of my life, doing a few time trials and audax’s along the way. Then in 2018 a friend in the village suggested the C25K and thought I would give it go. Apart from shin splints in the first week I was away. To my surprise I was enjoying it too. By 2019 I had completed a half marathon distance and was regularly running 18 – 20 miles a week and loving it! Then in October 2019 I suffered a groin strain of sorts which has put me out for months, having to fall back on cycling to maintain some aerobic fitness.
This is my second week back easing myself in with walk / run intervals and hoping I can shake off the injury completely but just so glad to be out running again!

Hi and welcome to the bug, build yourself up steady and I’m sure you will soon be signing up for a race ( once the government gives us the go ahead?) 😄👍 Plenty’s of support and advice on here, bit of banter too 😁

Welcome to the bug, and great to see your finding the love of running. Keep it going, your defo using the right strategy of easing back into it, and not pressurising yourself. Really good to read, as I have a couple of friends who cycle and have tried running and said no way can’t do that, so hats off to you to be able to do both. Parkrun hopefully back soon, so that will give you an extra bit of motivation when the times comes
