Well it looks like every race on the calendar is now a casualty of Covid-19, gyms will be forced to close and non of us know what we’re training for any more – what are you doing in terms of a plan over the next few months to keep your fitness going and your mojo alive and well…

I plan on sorting myself out!! Getting my fitness back into beast mode as 3 of my events have been postponed all to September, one after the after LOL plus i have already Norfolk trail marathon bookend in for the 26th sep 😵 It’s going to be a busy month for me – that’s assuming that things have settled by then.

But you had a great idea with a virtual races 🙂 what do you have in mind?

Well for me it’s looking like 3 (probably 4) of my key races are gone for this year, so I plan to still follow my plan and do equivalent distances to the events on the weekend of the events.  I would usually enter a few training events along the way and I’m going to miss those for sure.

Maybe we could set up a couple of virtual bug events (as we have previously with virtual bug runs) with distances 5k, 10K, HM, Mara and 50K to give people a goal to work towards?

No running club outings for the foreseeable future either so just keep plodding I guess. I have so many medals from past events I might award myself one every so often so I still get my bling fix.

Virtual races sound like a good idea to keep everyone motivated with their training for the upcoming months 🙂

My two big events for this year are still technically going ahead so until I hear otherwise I’m carrying on as normal.
I’m fully expecting the first one to be cancelled in the next two weeks though. Second one isn’t until the end of July so still an outside chance that’s happening.
So I’m clinging onto both of those for motivation at the moment!

Some virtual races sounds like a cool idea though

My big one of the year has gone, went out this afternoon feeling disappointed, with the thoughts what now? Have still stayed with the plan today and will do again for the next two runs. Have a two more races booked, May and July.. No idea about them yet?

Not a fan of virtual races, dont think ive done one? 🤔 under the circumstances it could do us all good & keep are running mojo going… Not sure i can do a ultra though? will give it some consideration, more to think about where to run it and keep it interesting? 🤔

I’m not usually a fan either Lizzy – but anything to keep the focus going is a bonus in current times, it’s too easy to take a few steps back when you have no immediate pressure in terms of an event??

Like Lizzy I wouldn’t normally be a fan of virtual races – but definitely worth a try.  Won’t be entering any virtual ultras or maras tho!

Virtual races a good idea, never really keen, but exceptional circumstances,  as long as we’re not confined to home in some dramatic lockdown? Can only see that happening in major cities.

My foot is not great, but I can adjust time and pace and dilly dally a bit. Think I’ll even make up my own goody bag or items that I actually want!!!

@lizzy – do it – plot a route out and get the girls to get on the bike and provide aid stations – you’ve done the training and it would be such a shame not to use it – the pressure of times etc is removed so go enjoy covering the miles somewhere beautiful 🙂
