I didn’t feel motivated initially as had a sore throat. Anyhow dosed myself up and hit the pavement. A foggy, cold easy paced gentle run today. Because I live in a city, I seem to be dodging black ice a lot at the moment trying to keep to roads or verges wherever possible. Saving legs for Sunday. Feel a bit better now I got out. ☺

    • A nice run always makes me feel better and a nice bit of ice dodging – we don;t want any mupperty esp not before the race!!

    • Well done Sonia, its tricky when you’ve got a cold – but often its great to get out there and it settles down a bit. Lovely miles.

  • Yes hoping a 2 miler tomorrow but seem to have obtained a sore throat from somewhere..no temp so I’ll still plod on. ☺

A saunter as easing back before 5miler race Sunday. A lovely mild run, didn’t seem so cold. Couple hill reps thrown in and increase pace near the end. Happy with that run. Not sure whether I should do a weights workout or not. I’ve done a bit of core workout with local running club.

Well someone from Parkrun invited me to social run this morning so thought I’d give it a go. It was a steady, hilly, different route with some other lady runners. I was not left behind. I was able to make it up the hills which I was happy about. My Garmin had to keep stop, starting so not sure if result realistic for this type of run. Was a social,…[Read more]

I got a bit cold after running to parkrun waiting for it to start. Then it was a tad icy in places. I tried to speed up a little on the grass areas. I like cold morning runs in winter I discovered. I was able to run all the way round Parkie without stopping. I enjoyed that run all in all. ☺

A steady early cold run to parkrun. I went a little off route felt wanted a change but ended up in cold, wet marsh. It was still fun. My jaunt to the parkrun was kind of like an adventure!. ☺🏃

It was a mild damp run. I wanted to attempt a speed interval session of 8×1 min reps, 5 min warm up/cool down. What happened was….the 8 reps but had to work them on my own without my Garmin as I hadn’t figured out how to turn the notifications on. So was more like a speedy lets run to the next lampost, then to the bridge etc.. I worked on this…[Read more]

    • Really is mild out there this morning!! – Glad to hear you’re recoving from the lurgey – does seem to be a lot of that about and looking like you got in a great session this morning – well done Sonia 🙂

    • IMO these naked speed session are far better than being told how fast you need to go by the watch – your body is going at it’s own pace without over doing it – well done on the session and early start! Best not to have music on when its dark anyway 🙂

    • Sounds like a solid session Sonia, well done

I intended this run to be a hill reps session. As I’ve come down with my daughter stinking cold this run wasn’t my best. I felt it the first mile or so as I knew I was drained of energy. Lack of sleep didn’t help either. So this was a mild damp, overdressed attempt of getting out the door and run a couple of hill reps up the usual hill to then…[Read more]

It was a mild misty morning run in daylight for a change. I pretty much jeffed it, I was tired after yesterday’s run. I wasn’t overdressed this time so was in 3/4 length leggings and tshirt and was happy. I may try porridge to fuel next time. One day I’ll be able to run the whole distance….just keep plodding on…

    • Thats the spirit – YES YOU WILL be able to run the whole distance just keep doing what your doing 🙂 Always nice when we don’t boil in the bag whilst running!

    • Dee27 replied 2 weeks ago

Yes you’ll definitely be able to do it and it will get easier!Well done.

A mild run I think I overdressed. I did run/walk part of this as it was very early, dark and pressures on me to get stuff done. I’d forgotten how blissful it is on an early Sat morning as almost noone around. I did feel I needed a boost half way through. I fuelled on toast, peanut butter before heading out. Fuelled on couple dates half way. I’m…[Read more]

    • Definitely warmer out there today and nice to get out before everyone else surfaces! I don’t usually need any water on runs less than 10k but it depends on the weather and how you feel, we’re all different, just do what suits you. 5 miler santa dash is definitely within reach.

    • Well done getting out early Sonia, and dates sound like a good idea.
As for water, we’re all different, in cooler weather there is less need especially with shorter distances, but if you feel you need it, take it with you. The Santa Dash may have a water station too?
Definitely capable of a 5 miler Sonia 😊

    • Early Morning runs start the day off nicely well done.

    • You defo get that santa dash in them legs 🙂 well done but boo to the over heating!

    • Lovely looking miles, well done Sonia. Looking very good for your Santa dash

    • Building nicely Sonia and definitely looking up to the santa dash 🙂

Intervals session before school run early. It was very mild this morning. 7×1 min faster pace/1min jog repeats with 5min warm up/cool down. I’m happy I achieved this. Kept the rhythm going and felt fab!! ☺

A cold, slightly frosty hilly reps session. Music cut off half way which was annoying. Still an enjoyable run. I think the reps are seeming easier so may increase next time. My foot issue PF seems to be knocked at bay for now too. All positive…☺

    • All sounding very positive Sonia – well done 🙂

    • I like a good hill reps session but yes very annoying when the music decided to stop!! Good to hear the pf is feeling better to 🙂
Maybe you could try increasing the pace on the ups to push things further if your finding the hills easier.

A different parkrun as local one cancelled due to rain flooding the course. A flatish course quite open lovely sunny morning. If I moved forward in beginning perhaps could’ve achieved a better time. Like an out and back course so runners on way back passing me. It played mind tricks. Anyhow nice to bump into some runner friends too. Today was…[Read more]

A quick speed session before a very early school run. Wet, windy, dark. My Garmin took ages to get signal I just carried on anyhow. 7x 1min run/ steady jog pace. 5min warm up/cool down. I think I actually enjoyed it today. ☺

    • Frustrating when the Garmin gremlins strike – and it always happens when you have the least amount of time to mess about with it – sounds a great session again and get you enjoying the speedwork 🙂 Well done Sonia 🙂

    • Ggrrrr to the Garmin – so annoying when that happens but a good session and even better is that you ejnoyed it 🙂

    • Good speed session well done. Now increase it to 10× 1 minute with 1 minute jog recoveries.

    • Good work Sonia. That kind of speed work bound to be beneficial.

A cold, fresh early hill reps session. My legs were tired after a cross fit session with local running last night. I cycle there and back too. My legs getting used to the increase of exercise. A lovely sunrise. Lovely mild early morning run. Took me a while to warm up into the run but I made it up the hill that I intended to. Trying to build on distance now. ☺

    • Properly Baltic up herectoday – that’s a good stretch to the distance and doing well structuring the week this week – well done Sonia 😊👍
