Cant imagine a second night of no sleep and slogging out some more miles , but if anyone can do it its Sharnie 💪💪💪💪

  • Lizzy replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 26 minutes ago

9.40pm now and just checked on how Sharnie is doing, on her way to CP7 hope the sleep did her some good? guessing Dads taken over on support duties for a bit now.

  • Richard Woodfield replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 28 minutes ago

Sharnie’s doing brilliantly – but I’m sure that she’s been finding it really hard going since CP6 judging by her pace relative to other runners closest in front or behind.  About 3 miles to CP7 – so hopefully that will give a chance to receive some tlc from the support crew.

Wth 116 miles done the total left to be done has dropped just below…[Read more]

Cardiff Parkrun – official time: 28:35, so I just skipped from 30:47 and totally dismissed the 29 min stage! I love this parkrun course and with Ben’s words of advice ringing in my ears together with reminding myself if I can do 45 mins of spin class then I can do this……… it went well. Didn’t do as Ben had put on the plan as it should have…[Read more]

After yesterday’s parkrun todays run was a steady longer run. Route roughly in mind keeping to Z2 not stressing on inclines if it went to Z3.

Well all that went out the window. Parked car in Erddig and walked whilst adjusting hydratin belt thats ready for the bin. so nice and relaxed, soon as i start to run almost Z3 😯 walk, jog then Z2, Z1,…[Read more]

    • Hmm, I would say (with my limited expertise) that it can’t be right? Unless it was very hilly or hot? Could you switch the watch off, then turn it back on again, or does that not help???
However, forgetting the HR, that’s a good steady run, sounds like you were enjoying it too. Lovely 8 Lizzy 🙂

    • @jillymp just finished charging it so will switch it off and hopefully it be ok on the next run? i wouldn’t be able to speak at Z5 would i?

    • Gadgets are great when they behave and very infuriating when they dont 😄 sacking it seemed like the best idea Lizzy and you still got a good 8 in the bank. No doubt Shsrnie would have the answer but she seems to be a bit busy at the moment 😆😆😆

Really in awe.. she is doing absolutely amazing..  that bit of kip would have given her a second wind?? And you and molly Ian are just amazing support.. keep up the awesomeness lovely!! Xx

Busy afternoon in the park so lots of weaving in and out on this run! Pleased with how if felt, did laugh to myself about feeling pleased with 6 miles when Sharnie has just done about 100!!!

  • Dee27 replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 5 hours, 57 minutes ago

    Good thinking Richard!

The temptation to carry on snoozing after only one hour must have been enormous.  I don’t think I’d be able to put one foot in front of the other, let alone run!

    CP6 Update.

Arrived in 1 piece.  But getting a tad tired so it was time for an hours kip. Each checkpoint has a room with blow up beds in. Woke at 2:30 pm, got sorted and waterproofs on and of she went.

101 miles done. I’m now waiting at CP 7.

  • Maybe the Christmas tree + santa at CP6 is all a cunning psychological ploy?  Trying to convey a subtle covert message to the weary ultra runners: if you don’t get your skates on you won’t finish this ultra in time for Christmas.  If so, I rather doubt the effectiveness of the tactic! 😉

The Belper Rover 30k. The finish line came too early and it looks like it was cut short owing to the weather presumably (making part of the course unpassable).
This is a mostly off road run on trails, it is hard depending on whether you look at Garmin or Strava its between 1500ft and 2000ft and it certainly felt it.
The start is on a narrow trail…[Read more]

    • Sounds like a tough one but as you say, if you just relax and enjoy it, then it’s happy days and a beer at the end sounds perfect.

    • Great achievement Chris. Sounds like a tough course. .you earned that beer!

    • Good starts for thoes races, frustrating yet it calms you down so no going to fast too early. Glad you enjoyed it Chris, well done

    • Ooh, that does sound like a nice event Chris, may look it up, though it’s probably miles away from me. Actually think your time is strong for the course and elevation. Well done 🙂

    • You manage to find all the tough ones chris 😄 sounds great fun and that was a great time pver that course. Beer well deserved 💪💪

First 5.5 with my friend Anya again. Squeezed another half a mile if for her to increase the distance, we also upped the pace a little. Last 4.5 was a little bit quicker for me.

Splits were roughly 48 minutes for the first 5.5 and then 36-37 minutes for my 4.5

      Happy with that.

No yoga this afternoon as I am off to see The Kaiser…[Read more]

lol at the colour of sharnies FEET 👣 Compared to her legs 😁 sounded a tough climb Ian up to CP5.  Hope the kip helps? you catch up on some and good luck to Dad taking over.

  • Ian S replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 8 hours, 34 minutes ago

  • Gael replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 8 hours, 43 minutes ago

    Sharon looks amazing!

I honestly expected everyone to have at least a few hours sleep a day.

Hope Ian and Molly doing ok

LSR with my Sunday pal, nice and chatty despite been warm and windy Nice and even paced with an average of 8.38m/m. No change with Rebecca yet, going to see her later

  • Can’t believe how well she looks on no sleep – absolutely hardcore! !

  • Meanwhile, not a lot of movement at CP5.  One other left after Sharnie and is making good progress in her wake, but there’s a fair size gap now between Sharnie (approaching CP6) and the bunch still at CP5.

  • Dee27 replied to the topic Race Across Scotland in the forum ultra 9 hours, 15 minutes ago

Sharnie is hot on her heels though, won’t be long before she’s there too!
