  • I’m not sure that there is a clear cut right answer Michelle.ย  I have varied between going up a half and a full size.ย  At the moment I’m on a full size up.ย  I buy my shoes in a running shop, so it’s easy to compare sizes.ย  Assuming I liked the shoes in the first place probably what I would do now is buy the full size larger unless it simply felt too big.

Drove up to Chirk for this one with my eldest. Cold and windy with a bit id drizzle now and then..

Eldest joined me on her bike, up to chirk castle for the first part. Had to pause watch a couple of times to wait for her to catch me up. Did stop a couple of times without pausing it. Reached the main hilly bit to reach the bottom path that…[Read more]

    • Really pleased to hear that you are feeling better at last, Lizzy. Doesn’t sound like a particularly easy route, so having your HR down to 147 sounds very positive. Bet you enjoyed the tea and scone after that ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Sounds like you really are on the mend – well done Lizzy – seems like that lurgy hung on forever? Onwards and upwards now 👍😊

    • Sounds like the lurgy is at last on the retreat – which would be a considerable relief, Lizzy.

4M-ish easy. Still being kind to myself. A gentle cruise on a surprisingly pleasant, sunny morning. Had anticipated the the wind would be wild this morning, but it seems that the storm was delayed a bit. Had some lashing rain this afternoon but the wind is now due tonight. Pleased to avoided it anyway! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Plan said 75 mins at 10:05 pace so went in search of it resulting in: 9:39, 9:50, 9:58, 9:56, 10:05 🏆, 10:10, 10:10 & 10:00. Having over indulged a bit the last few days but also having spent 3 hours in a Spa and having a massage yesterday (our 19th wedding anniversary) followed by over a 4 hour drive back today, going straight out for a run felt…[Read more]

Tech, I was positive I’d posted this on Friday when I ran it but it appears not….. or did I and it just vanished?!? Anyway in Cardiff for a few days. Morning run but had to wait until light enough as I didnโ€™t take any lights or hi-viz. Drizzly and very windy start to the day. Too much traffic and had to wait on some crossings but love r…[Read more]

Steady long run. I was going to do 10…but the combination of a windy day and copious amounts of cheese and wine (biased towards the wine) at a friend’s birthday party last night meant that 7 would be enough ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

T24 W12-R6 – steady 6 in Z2 – think a decent long sleep and a slightly later start meant Z2 was easy to find and sit in today – bit blowy out there and a refreshing blast of horizontal hail in the middle 🤣

    • A good sleep does wonders. That wind is pretty strong at times we now have a yellow warnibg apparently for 6pm. I thought it was bad enough last night. O bet you have it worse though especially the hail. Well done with the run Sharnie 😊👍

    • I’m pleased you embraced the breeze and it never affected the HR. Definitely best HR for a while. This getting up mid morning obviously works. Nice run and pleased you made the most and enjoyed my cheats prog hill. Well done Mrs S xx

    • Ouch to horizontal hail, that would have sent my HR right up!

    • ouch 😲 hail can really hurt too. You and me both on better HR today 😊 you did well sitting nicely in Z2 in the wind and after the big miles yesterday Sharnie, well done 😊

    • Ahhhh the restorative powers of a good night’s sleep! Really pleased to hear that you are recovering from such a very busy week last week. I suspect you could have done without the horizontal hail though! OUCH!

    • A lovely 6 in the wind and sleet Sharnie ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Exfoliation at its best 😆 spot on HR to compensate tho Sharnie 💪

    • Horizontal hail – wearing goggles probably the right kit to protect the eyelids?

This was a lovely run. My intent was to go our for a 20 miler and keep the pace down (trying to run further and slower).
Route was fab, a gradual uphill out of town to the local resorvoirs (Linacre), around them as the sun was coming through. That was fairly undulating on trails … needed a bit of care here and there. Then it was a return to…[Read more]

A hard fought run this one, on some tricky terrain with mud being a bit on the heavy side in parts, fortunately not everywhere which was a relief as i don’t think i could of gone all the way with it like this.

    • Well done Jason.
I agree re the 18. There’s no point in battling beyond that if your spent, you may well cause an injury or just a few mental blows that go against you on the day. A super 18 in the bag and looking good for your marathon.

    • Sounds like a job well done and you don’t want to break yourself before the marathon.

    • Wow, impressive mileage and in tricky conditions, think you deserve the rest day.

    • That’s a good chunk of miles to round off your marathon training, Jason. The mud will have really sapped the leg’s energy. No sense in doing yourself a mischief if you were spent at 18. Taper well and let the mind and body recharge the batteries in readiness for the 22nd

    • Cracking chunk of miles Jason, mud makes things pretty tough going, but good to get a long one in before the 22nd – well done 👍

10K RHYF. Had a crazy-busy couple of days at work at the end of the week, so decided not to stress about getting our for a run โ€ฆ but, boy it was nice to get out for a trundle today. Just took it as it came and enjoyed it. Legs seem to have recovered well. I’m generally tired, but all things considered, that’s probably not a surprise ๐Ÿ˜‰

Langdale 10k pudding run. A wet one unfortunately, like a monsoon at the end. So wet we didn’t even take a photo. Survived though and this included a mulled wine at 5.5km. Ian just sneaked in under the hour.

RTW parkrun. Very muddy again – as it will be for several months to come. Was good to see the runner who was taken seriously ill out on the course some weeks back. He came along to thank those who helped him – and brought four large tubs of chocolates.

    • A good result in the conditions Richard and must have been so nice to see the person who was taken ill back out there today 🙂

    • Oh Richard that must have been a huge relief to see him.

That mud not slowing you down, same this way a few weeks to dry out but by then rain or even snow? to top it off 😯

    • Should think it was lovely to see him up and about – a scary experience for everyone for sure and great to hear he appreciated the help. That’s a great pace for the conditions from you today – well done 👏👍

    • Oh, I remember you telling us about that incident โ€ฆ It sounded so concerning, so delighted to hear that the gentleman has recovered. It must have been such a relief for everyone to see him well again. You did well in all that mud today, Richard ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Glad to hear the gentleman has recovered

    • good result with muddy conditions. nice that the guy turned up and showed his appreciation for all that helped him, will he able to run again?

    • Great news Richard, hope he continues to recover. I think the psychological recovery after something like that would be worse than the physical.
That’s a good park run result in the mud!

    • Thatโ€™s great news Richard, bet the chocs went down well.
Wet like you say could be that way for the next few months

Southport parkrun. Nice mild conditions and a decent turnout. Wasn’t expecting much from this as we were out at the local Christmas fair last night and a few vinos may have been consumed! T24 W12-R5 – LSR – a hefty dose of unenthusiasm and CBA going on this morning, feeling the tired from a busy week, but job done 😊😊

    • Not surprising really after the busy week and the travelling yesterday. But the mile splits for that one are not bad so looks better than it felt obviously. Very good work though, marching on Mrs S xx

    • Well that’s a fantastic pace for the distance when feeling unenthusiastic, not surprising though after a week in London, guessing you just wanted to chill at home with the family. Well done on getting out and bagging those big miles 👍🙂

    • Well if you can do that on next to know enthusiasm, that’s got to be something to be proud of, well done!

    • If this is when you’re not feeling like it you’d be awesome when you do. Well done Sharnie now for a well deserved rest. 😊👏👏

    • After the week away working and long drive home not suprised you didn’t feel like it Sharnie.

Looks like your legs had other ideas though, as that is a cracking 20 miler with a fair chunk of elevation in there. well done, day with your feet up tomorrow i thinks in order? 😊😉👍

    • Job well and truly done Sharnie 💪💪

    • That’s a bit old chunk of miles to grind out after such a hugely busy week. Well done Sharon. Hope you can enjoy a restful remainder of the weekend x

    • Big chunk of miles👍

    • job done indeed, its tough love somedays on CBA days(love the abbreviations ) good stuff👍

    • That’s a big old chunk of miles for a CBA day. Well done

    • Excellent long run Sharnie ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Big miles done, and at a very respectable pace. So not too much wrong with the outcome despite the lack of enthusiasm.
