Silverstone Half Week 2 Run 1 – 3 mile interval
Until I started this run I still wasn’t sure if it was going to be my easy run or speed work! Decided to go for speed work, think I ended up averaging running for 5-6 minutes and walking for 1-2. Overall average pace came out at 11:19. Ran at Draycote again and did it as an out and back.

    • Nicely done Emma. Looked at this on Garmin and that was a very speedy top pace you got . Well done 😀

Good old British weather, just wanted to make sure you’ve had every aspect covered by the time you get to race day!!! Excellent long run 👍

@richardw Indeed she has, I like to think of her as some sort of running Yoda and we are her trainee Jedi!! 😁 Excellent support as always!!! 🙌

Good work fitting the miles in around everything else going on, many would have been tempted to dump the run. I second what Barry has said re Rebecca, she’s in the right place so fingers crossed there’s a positive change soon

Silverstone Half training, week 1 run 3 – Long Run, Draycote 10km

First long run of the training plan, and week 1 is done!!

Really pleased with how this went. Although me, Emma, Lee and Alison from the gym were running I did this on my own, as Lee shot off at his usual pace and Emma was supporting Alison in her first event at this distance.…[Read more]

Good grief, isn’t it amazing how little things impact on the bigger picture. Great to hear that you can still run, keep up the exercises!

It’s amazing how quickly things dessert you, but it works both ways and you’ll find yourself back where you were in no time! An excellent 3 miles, keep it going 👌

Might try and do the speed work before the class next time, I won’t be any less knackered but might make the running feel a bit easier! 😝 Thank you for the motivation and support 🙌

Bloody hell Doris, don’t you know there’s serious training to be done down that road?! Got to love a bit of verge climbing to avoid the traffic! Nicely done 👌

Surely that’s a typical British Summer run?!? 😝 Good going, well done 👍

Nice one Dave, terrain mix sounds interesting, could have been fun if a bit damp! Fingers crossed for the physio

@dee27 Silverstone at the end of November, so in theory should be nice and flat – will see how that pans out!!!

This was my first bit of speed work, a 3 mile progression run. Splits were 11:54, 11:39 and 10:35. I found running slowly difficult to start off with, especially as the route we did was part of our Saturday morning gym class warm-up when the aim is to get round as quickly as possible!
I’m pleased the splits went in the right direction, due in no…[Read more]

    • You did a great job especially after that strength and conditioning class. Not many runners have an hour of circuit training and the skierg as a warm up!

    • For a progression that the secret – start really really slow so the speedy bits don’t feel so bad ;p great effort on your first go 🙂 well done.

First half marathon training run, 45 minutes easy run. Again went for a bit longer than planned, as wanted to get to the end of the section I was running!
Garmin shows a consistent pace, took it steady and happy to get the first training run under my belt

Warm-up for first training run. Should have been 10 minutes but wanted to get to the end of the stretch I was on!

  • Emma replied to the topic Why did you start running? in the forum Beginners 3 weeks, 3 days ago

A similar story to most of you, I did the obligatory running at school and didn’t exactly hate it, but once I left school I didn’t really do must physical activity for a few years. I did a few Race for Life events and times varied from 38 minutes to 50 minutes I think.

I didn’t think I had any real desire to run, I admired the people who ran…[Read more]

Been terribly slack with recording runs and commenting, last 3 months have passed in a blur thanks to work 🙄 will be aiming to get back in the swing of things over the coming weeks! 👍
