Day 15 of C25K. Run 8 minutes, walk 2 minutes X 2 then run 5Minutes. Lovely evening out, but a tad muggy! 3 more of these slow build-up/rehab runs, then a couple of weeks holiday, then I will have a crack at that park run! Will be interesting……..

Ergh….at last! Day 14 of C25k – run 7 minutes, walk 2 minutes x 4. Since when did work steal running time??? Never mind, was a fabulous evening down along Portobello prom by the sea. First time I have done that route in a while and it was splendid, sun dancing on the waves, salt air, blue sky, white sails out on the bay. Doesn’t get any better!

    • Unfortunately lots can get in the way and steal running time, not easy to stick to plans when life is busy. Getting there though with c25k and the route sounds like heaven

    • That sounds a happy run. Work, boo!

    • That does sound a happy run out – and a welcome one by the sounds – work interfering just sucks – well done Jabbs πŸ™‚

    • Work is a dreadful time-thief! … still, it sounds as though the outing was very, very welcome, and in very, very beautiful surrounds. What a perfect way to round off the working week πŸ™‚

    • Imagine if you were paid to run!! I’d love that, with free physio etc and shoes.
Anyway, good to see you back again, sounds like a really lovely route. I googled portobello Prom as have no idea where it is, and up in Edinburgh? really nice city to live and run πŸ™‚

    • Work does have a way of interfering with our training plans but managed to get out and get it done, sounds like a lovely outing too πŸ™‚

    • Life has a way of getting in the way of important things like running!

    • Sounds like a great run , well done

    • Sounds amazing! Well done

Day 13 of C25K. Run 6 minutes, walk 3 minutes x 4. Never run in a tropical monsoon before. Hot and very wet! Great fun though, like having a cool shower while running in a sauna. 2 more weeks of this gentle build up then I will have a go at a park run. That will be a real catharsis and feel like back to normality! 10 mile bike ride tomorrow early.…[Read more]

Day 12 of C25K. Run 6 minutes walk 3 minutes x 3. Guess this was in the program as some sort of rec run. A wee bit gentle for my liking so did two of the run cycles as hill reps. Pretty warm out there but awesome to be running in the sun!

  • Racking up some awesome miles there Amanda. Super work!

  • The looks like an enjoyable one Jo. Nice work and a drop of pleasant cooling rain is always refreshing ahead of a trip!

  • Nice looking outing there Dawn. Nothing like a muddy sweaty session to lighten the heart and amuse the ducks! Well done.

Day 11 of C25K. Run 5 minutes walk 2 minutes x 6. Actually hit the 5k this evening but not counting it as 12 minutes of it was walking……Loved this one. by the third cycle legs were turning over just lovely. Still compromised on the breathing and general stamina but that will come. Happy Tuesday folks!

    • Brilliant job, well done 👏

    • You are making great progress, Jabbs. The fact that you enjoyed it so much and that the legs were feeling perky once they got going is a testament to that. The breathing and stamina will come πŸ™‚

    • Was wondering how you were getting on with this, missed the knee injury but sounds like it’s all under control now. Back on it, well done 👍

It wont be long till it’s a 5k full of running. Your doing a good job, being sensible. All will come good soon

    • Everything is coming along nicely Jabbs and it won’t be long before the heart and lungs catch up with you and that 5k is just round the corner – well done πŸ™‚

    • Not too long now until that 5k will all be running, great work and sounds like you’re really enjoying it too πŸ™‚

    • 5k non stop coming to get ya 💪💪😊

    • well done mate, it will be a 5k run again soon

    • 5k is still 5k Jon, no matter how you get there – well done!

    • Well done! 👍

Day 10 of C25K. Was supposed to be: Run 5 minutes Walk 2 minutes x 5 but it got good to me so swapped up to: Run 5 Minutes Walk 1 minute x 5. Absolutely gorgeous sunny evening. Legs felt nice and loose. Breathing still needs work but still life affirming stuff! Happy weekend Bugs!

Aaaaand play has resumed on C25K. Knee niggle is history after a good long RICE period. This was supposed to be day 13 but I have ramped back to the programme for day 9 as almost 3 weeks is a long time to lose. This was C25K run 9 (again!) run 5 minutes, walk 3 minutes x3. Gorgeous warm sunny and windy evening out around the railway cuttings.…[Read more]

well done, glad the knee is better 😊

    • Glad to hear that knee is playing nicely again and we do like a happy chappy – had wondered where you had disappeared to, sensible to step back a little and not push on too fast – well done Jabbs πŸ™‚

    • Great to hear the knee is better and you’re back on plan πŸ™‚

    • Glad you’re on the mend

glad you are on the mend mate

    • Love a post like this – a happy runner! Good to see you back out there, working sensibly through the programme, well done Jabbs πŸ™‚

    • I wondered what was happening. Good to hear the knee is recovering and all looking good.
Another fine run, and stepping back a few plan days was a sensible decision.

    • Well done!

  • Ooops missed this one! Super write-up Dee, and looks like a fun half marathon. Cracking time too so well done you, especially in the pouring rain! Edinburgh Half and Marathon were a bit of a washout too but guess once you are wet you cant get any wetter!

  • That looks like a relaxed and interesting run mate. Sometimes it’s good to slow it down and just enjoy the surroundings. Nice write-up!

  • Ha ha cracking comeback MC. I would love to have seen said yummy mummy’s face after that! Fine looking fartlek session there in spite of the CBA and the unsolicited Chelsea Tractor driver’s advice! Mighty fine job on both run and verbals…..

  • Well done Rachel for getting it done in poor conditions and when the legs are not co-operating. That takes mental strength, so well done, and good call to turn early, save it for another day. The Yoga is a good call too…..certainly helps my old bits stay looser than they might.

  • Smashing looking zippy 5k Sharon. No niggles is always good! glad the legs de-clunked for you and hope the fizz doesn’t hurt too much! All the best for Sunday and hope it doesn’t get too hot to handle!

This was Day 10 of C25K, missed while up North. Run 5 minutes, walk 3 minutes X 4. Warm overcast day out round the old railway cuttings. First mouthful of bugs this year….. Good protein! Preceded this little session with a 5 mile bike ride on my new cycle purchased on Saturday. Looking forward to supplementing the leg miles with some two wheel miles!

Back from travels. Day 12 of C25K – run 6 minutes, walk 3 minutes X 4. Lovely sunny evening with some gratis resistance training thrown in due to the high winds. Enjoyed having to push a bit! Glad I was not in the Edinburgh Half and Marathon today. Weather was awful this morning. Hope you have all had an awesome Sunday!
