Very enjoyable outing on a beautiful chilly sunny October evening. Splendid fun kicking the fallen leaves and listening to some inspiring tracks on the iPod. Signed up for the Glasgow Great Run 10k in a year’s time. Maybe the half in 2021 but the 10k is good for now for a gentlemen of advancing years! Reckon 12 months should be enough to train to…[Read more]

    • Always good to have an end goal to work towards and a year is plenty of time – good outing again (though you be careful what’s hidden under those leaves ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ๐Ÿ™‚

    • 10k no problem for you Jabbs nearly there already 💪💪

    • This sounds like a fine plan Jon. Should give you ample time to build up for a super time. Gentleman of advancing years……. Plenty of enjoyable/active life left, I’m sure!

    • It certainly is a lovely time of the year for running – sounds like a plan going forward for the 10K ๐Ÿ™‚

    • YAY fab to see you have an event booked in – 1 year, easy under the under ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Well done, 1 year will be plenty of time to work on you 10k pace!

    • Advancing years? Do you know, I have no idea on the age of anyone on here, you could quite easily be 21!
10k is a great goal, and actually my favourite race distance, there’s no need to go bigger (Bolt certainly didn’t) but thinking ahead to ’21 is pretty cool too. Sounding sensible and positive ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Great 4, pace is coming

Nice miles on a soft grey September evening. Totally loving this running for fun business. No pressure! This was a street run round the local neighbourhood. Nothing spectacular but good to crack in some miles.

Not sure where that came from! Set off in the chilly pre-dawn at 06.00 and ran the sun into the sky. Deep in thinking time so didn’t notice the miles or the time. Stunning blue sky September morning with hardly a soul about. Lovely to have the world to oneself. Hams hurting a bit now but a very enjoyable outing! Happy Sunday folks.

OK got fed up posting all my C25K outings so just waited until the job was done. Absolutely gorgeous day, though a wee bitty hot. Slow and steady 5k but job done and now the way is open to improve on time and start shooting for 10k. Thinking of working toward the Great Scottish Run 10k next year. A year’s training should just about do…[Read more]

Day 16 of C25K after a fortnight’s hollibobs. Run 9 minutes, walk 2 minutes X 4. Lovely early morning outing in the rain which was very refreshing after all the hot weather! Happy Sunday all!

Day 15 of C25K. Run 8 minutes, walk 2 minutes X 2 then run 5Minutes. Lovely evening out, but a tad muggy! 3 more of these slow build-up/rehab runs, then a couple of weeks holiday, then I will have a crack at that park run! Will be interesting……..

Ergh….at last! Day 14 of C25k – run 7 minutes, walk 2 minutes x 4. Since when did work steal running time??? Never mind, was a fabulous evening down along Portobello prom by the sea. First time I have done that route in a while and it was splendid, sun dancing on the waves, salt air, blue sky, white sails out on the bay. Doesnโ€™t get any better!

    • Unfortunately lots can get in the way and steal running time, not easy to stick to plans when life is busy. Getting there though with c25k and the route sounds like heaven

    • That sounds a happy run. Work, boo!

    • That does sound a happy run out – and a welcome one by the sounds – work interfering just sucks – well done Jabbs ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Work is a dreadful time-thief! โ€ฆ still, it sounds as though the outing was very, very welcome, and in very, very beautiful surrounds. What a perfect way to round off the working week ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Imagine if you were paid to run!! I’d love that, with free physio etc and shoes.
Anyway, good to see you back again, sounds like a really lovely route. I googled portobello Prom as have no idea where it is, and up in Edinburgh? really nice city to live and run ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Work does have a way of interfering with our training plans but managed to get out and get it done, sounds like a lovely outing too ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Life has a way of getting in the way of important things like running!

    • Sounds like a great run , well done

    • Sounds amazing! Well done

Day 13 of C25K. Run 6 minutes, walk 3 minutes x 4. Never run in a tropical monsoon before. Hot and very wet! Great fun though, like having a cool shower while running in a sauna. 2 more weeks of this gentle build up then I will have a go at a park run. That will be a real catharsis and feel like back to normality! 10 mile bike ride tomorrow early.…[Read more]

Day 12 of C25K. Run 6 minutes walk 3 minutes x 3. Guess this was in the program as some sort of rec run. A wee bit gentle for my liking so did two of the run cycles as hill reps. Pretty warm out there but awesome to be running in the sun!

  • Racking up some awesome miles there Amanda. Super work!

  • The looks like an enjoyable one Jo. Nice work and a drop of pleasant cooling rain is always refreshing ahead of a trip!

  • Nice looking outing there Dawn. Nothing like a muddy sweaty session to lighten the heart and amuse the ducks! Well done.

Day 11 of C25K. Run 5 minutes walk 2 minutes x 6. Actually hit the 5k this evening but not counting it as 12 minutes of it was walking……Loved this one. by the third cycle legs were turning over just lovely. Still compromised on the breathing and general stamina but that will come. Happy Tuesday folks!

Day 10 of C25K. Was supposed to be: Run 5 minutes Walk 2 minutes x 5 but it got good to me so swapped up to: Run 5 Minutes Walk 1 minute x 5. Absolutely gorgeous sunny evening. Legs felt nice and loose. Breathing still needs work but still life affirming stuff! Happy weekend Bugs!

Aaaaand play has resumed on C25K. Knee niggle is history after a good long RICE period. This was supposed to be day 13 but I have ramped back to the programme for day 9 as almost 3 weeks is a long time to lose. This was C25K run 9 (again!) run 5 minutes, walk 3 minutes x3. Gorgeous warm sunny and windy evening out around the railway cuttings.…[Read more]

  • Ooops missed this one! Super write-up Dee, and looks like a fun half marathon. Cracking time too so well done you, especially in the pouring rain! Edinburgh Half and Marathon were a bit of a washout too but guess once you are wet you cant get any wetter!

  • That looks like a relaxed and interesting run mate. Sometimes it’s good to slow it down and just enjoy the surroundings. Nice write-up!

  • Ha ha cracking comeback MC. I would love to have seen said yummy mummy’s face after that! Fine looking fartlek session there in spite of the CBA and the unsolicited Chelsea Tractor driver’s advice! Mighty fine job on both run and verbals…..
