      Simons C25K Wk2 R2
Simon came in at 5:45 this morning and said he thought we might not be running because it was ‘chucking it down’. It sounded like a roar outside, and I’d already decided that getting drowned wasn’t a great idea – it’s not so bad running, but miserable when walking.
Half an hour later though it was completely fine, so we…[Read more]

    • Cracking stuff from Simon, running on a school morning!! LOL awwww you need to hold his hand and drag him on the walky bits πŸ™‚

    • You’re doing brilliant with Simon. Remember trying to get my daughter to run, she’d bomb along for the runs, then get tired and dilly dally for the walky bits! Good to read posts like this. Well done to Simon, and well done to you too πŸ™‚

    • That was an early outing before school! Good to hear the rain eased off and you managed a dry one πŸ™‚

    • cracking early outing there and on the bright side the walking gets less as the plan progresses πŸ™‚

    • Simon, tell your dad not to be such a wuss 😆😆 great outing before school 💪💪

    • That’s coming along nicely Paul – progressing well. Tell Simon that brisk walking is the answer…… !

    • Well at least he mentioned “might and not” which in my books means he was more up for it today. Glad it dried up for you, Well done Simon and bright and bushy tailed for school 😀

    • Simon is one keen boy up that early sounds like a keen boy. He’s doing really well

    • Love that he was awake at 05:45 and assessing the weather ahead of your run. He really is a little champ and coming along tremendously. Well done to both of you πŸ™‚

    • He’s doing very well isn’t he. Very nice few miles there and wont be long till the dawdling stops I’m sure.

    • Well done both of you

    • Walking in the rain is horrible, I do like running in the rain though and lets face it – living where we do, we have to get used to it. Good job getting out there, well done.

@vicky-pixi – they’re 6mm. They took some getting used to, as my road shoes are 8mm and the Speedcross are 10mm, but they are extremely comfortable, light and just don’t move once they’re on.

      Commute to work.
Quite tough going today. It was fairly warm, and I was struggling to get air into my lungs – as I was on Saturday also – which meant the HR was all over the place. No doubt the lingering effects of the cold from a couple of weeks ago.
Just took it steady. Probably the extra miles with Simon having an effect also, even if they…[Read more]

    • The lurgy can linger for ages but still got it done and the extra miles with Simon can only do you good πŸ™‚

    • I found it warm running also Paul, so maybe not just you recovering from the cold? bit of both. Well done getting it done

    • Shame this one felt tough, but you tackled it exactly the right way. Hopefully you will soon be free of the lingering effects of the cold

    • Still ,good effort running to work

    • Can take a hole to get rid of the after effects of a cold

    • sounds like that cold is clinging on well!! – the outings with Simon are a fab way to clock up some extras at a good easy pace, but the extra is bound to be felt a bit – another good outing here though and bouncing back from the lurgy nicely now πŸ™‚

    • Think it’s also been very humid recently which always makes things feel a lot harder and coupled with the recent lurgy it does have an effect on the hr – a good few miles banked though πŸ™‚

    • Good work Paul. Lurgy and humidity don’t go together too well, I’m afraid, making things hard. Increasing mileage is good work, though

      Simon C25K Wk1 R1 – 2min walk / 1:20 run x 9
It was raining and quite cold. Simon took a bit of ‘persuading’ to go out, and had a good moan for the first few minutes about being cold etc.
Then he discovered it was a great game jumping in puddles and trying to splash me, which improved his mood somewhat – at least for a while.

So got back with Simon, quick loo stop, and then straight back out for my planned run. In hindsight I should have cut it down a bit, but hey-ho.
Trails out to White Coppice, before then heading along the valley to the village of Brinscall, and back round by mainly road from there.
Wore my Speedcross 4’s again for only the second time, and yet…[Read more]

    • Fab miles PC – what drop are the cloudadventures?? Im favouring my 6mm drop shoes over the higher ones at the mo πŸ™‚

    • @vicky-pixi – they’re 6mm. They took some getting used to, as my road shoes are 8mm and the Speedcross are 10mm, but they are extremely comfortable, light and just don’t move once they’re on.

    • Snap – i have the NB Beacons (6mm) Took a while to adjust, im used to 8mm or 10mm and just bought a bouncy pair of 8mm and although i like them i think i defo prefer the lower drop πŸ™‚

    • Cracking miles PC bugga about the shoes rubbing tho ouchy 😕

    • That was a lovely chunk of miles clocked up over the morning – must be pleased with that. Great shame about the rubbing shoes – hope some further breaking in does the trick, but I do wonder if it’s time to go shopping to replace them πŸ˜‰

    • Getting a great bunch of miles for the day there Paul πŸ™‚ – hope the bum has forgiven you πŸ™‚ totally agree that Adidas have entirely ruined or discontinued their best models this year, the only ones left I like are the pure boost, but they fall apart after 250 miles so I’ll not be having them again – I am liking the Asics I’ve tried – and still…[Read more]

    • Funny when I go out with my daughter then carry on myself I always “forget” about the extra miles I’ve already done and wonder why my legs are feeling so tired after only a few miles πŸ™‚ Be interesting to see how you get on with the On Cloud, I keep looking at them but the low drop does put me off, agree with you about Adidas though, my last…[Read more]

      Simons C25K Wk1 R3
I was ambushed before I went out for my run Saturday morning, with simon wanting to go out first – much helped by the fact he wanted to wear his new running gear!.
Well any interest has to be encouraged, so I relented, and out we went on the same 2mW/1mR as the last 2.
Did pretty well again, even if he does set off with loads…[Read more]

Off out early this mornig while it was still dark, which Simon thought was great because he could wear a run light! Still had the tech issues, as it hadn’t updated the workout on my watch – it’s now been deleted and downloaded again so all OK.
He did great again, still plenty of enthusiasm – I just need to slow down a bit when…[Read more]

Well done Julian. It’s always tough getting back in the swing of things, but these are the sorts of runs that just make it all worthwhile – you just can’t beat those easy, relaxed no-pressure runs.

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Good looking 3 there Sharon, and hopefully the foot will behave and you can start pushing the distance again. Nice bit of variety in that one to help keep things interesting.

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Well done Richard, that pace is spot on target πŸ™‚

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

You’ve found yourself a tough sounding route there Lizzy, not surprising it was hard work.
Sounds like it might have just been one of those days for the HR though. There are so many things that affect it some days it’s just higher and you don’t really know why.
Well done, you got the miles (and hills) in.

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Well done, good even paced steady one πŸ™‚
Good restraint – although obviously you really wanted to push it looking at the ‘mistaken’ time logged πŸ˜‰

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Well done Jilly, that sounds like perfect running conditions, and the legs seem to be generally cooperating so all good πŸ™‚

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Good session Jo, but you’re having a nightmare with the HRM.
Have you tried using some electrode gel on the strap? (I’m assuming it is a strap – if it’s a wrist based one then that may explain the weirdness)
The gel is the same sort of stuff used for TENS machines, you can pick some up for buttons, but it really does help get good contact.

      This mornings commute in.
Set off this morning and immediately something felt off. It took me a minute or so to realise I’d forgotten to put my HR strap on. You get so used to how things feel.
Because of that I probably went a bit quicker than I otherwise would have done, but it was a nice cool morning, and I felt good, so I just went with it…[Read more]

Definitely getting an Autumn feel in the air – no matter what @meercat58 and @sharnie1 are saying! Good to hear the foot is improving. And as for VO2, from what my watch tells me I thought it was just a random number generator! πŸ˜‰

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

    Well done Richard.
Sometimes you’ve just got to do what you enjoy doing and go with it.

  • Paul C commented on the run 2 months, 3 weeks ago

Good session, and as you say the lack of running (relatively speaking for you that is!) is going to have some sort of effect, but I’m sure it will all soon return back to normal if the shin keeps behaving.
That was quite an intense one though, so no great surprise the HR was ‘elevated’ πŸ˜‰
    Well done.
