Milton Keynes parkrun. It was a nice crisp morning, perfect weather for running. I had a nice run and enjoyed it. My average pace 7:55 minute/mile. I felt I could have pushed it if I wanted to. I think the speed session definitely helped and my breathing seemed to be calm

Yes I see what you mean, I think it felt like I was running much slower, it felt more like 10 minute/mile. I think my natural pace is around 8.40, sometimes I don’t know I am doing 8.40 until I look at my watch. My long steady run pace is around 9.10 and sometimes I find that a bit slow and I end up doing more like 8.50. I am hoping to stick to…[Read more]

Speed work session. I had a good session last night. I did warm up of around 6 minutes. 3 x 200m, 3 x 400m, 3 x 200m with a cool down and a minute recovery. I felt this session really well and I really enjoyed it. My fastest pace was 5:28 and I managed to get around 6 minute/mile quite a few times. If only I could do that sort of pace on parkrun!…[Read more]

Thanks guys! Yes it was a bit quicker than my usual recovery pace. I guess I just ran to feel and my legs were wanting to go much quicker than my recovery pace!

I had a nice run last night. The training plan said slow so I tried to keep it to 9:10 pace but for some reason it felt really slow and part of me wanted to go faster. It felt warmer than the other night, there seemed to be lots of flies around!

    • Good 7 Tara.
Always hard to keep it slower when the legs want more, but it’s quite a good practice to get into, and will reap benefits πŸ™‚

    • Looks quick to me

Recovery run. This run seemed to go really well. It was supposed to be recovery pace which is usually around 9:10 minute/mile. My legs didn’t seem to feel too heavy from my long run and some of the time I was doing around 8:30 pace! I was really pleased with how the run went. It felt fairly cool and perfect weather for running! Average pace 9:02…[Read more]

Thanks guys! I am doing Bournemouth Marathon. I know there is a steep hill around 18 miles and it’s not one of the easiest marathons which is why I have been trying to put hills into my long runs. I am hoping I will be able to attack the hills at Bournemouth!

I had a nice run yesterday. I did part of this run with my running club. There was a hill at the start of my run and I also did the same run around 17.5 miles into my run. I was actually dreading the hill the second time round as I thought I would have really struggled at 17.5 miles into the run but it felt fine, I guess that must mean I am…[Read more]

    • Impressive pace for training run over that distance, including repeat hills. Looks like you’re well on target, Tara.

    • Looks like a cracking run Tara particularly with hills & at a really good pace.
      Which marathon are you doing?

    • That’s a brilliant long run Tara, and looking very strong for Bournemouth. Well done, pace is excellent πŸ™‚

Houghton Hall parkrun. I thought I would do a tourist parkrun today, my local parkrun wasn’t taking place today and plus I fancied doing one that I haven’t done before.

I quite liked the course, it was a scenic route, it is mostly flat with a slight hill. You have to do 2.5 laps but it is one that I really enjoyed and I would like to do again.…[Read more]

I had a nice run tonight. My quads still felt quite sore when I started this run. My average pace on this run was 9:05 minute mile. I had a nice run, it felt a nice temperature, I just missed the rain as I finished my run

This was a recovery run. My legs seemed to feel really heavy from Sunday’s run. I had a sports massage on Monday and my quads and calves seemed to be feeling sore from that also. For some reason 9 minute mile seemed to feel fast, it actually felt more like 8.40 pace. I am guessing that is to do with the heavy legs

I had a really nice run this morning. I ran to club run which was just over 6.5 miles and then did the hour club run and then ran home which worked out nicely. It was supposed to be 19 miles but I ended up going slightly over again this week. It was a lovely sunny morning but there was a nice cool breeze which kept it cool and it felt much better…[Read more]

This was the second run with my running club last night. It was a handicap run which covers 4.4 miles. We all set off at different times with about a minute apart but the idea is that most of the runners try and finish around the same time. I did this run around 8.00-8.30 minute/mile. Average pace 8.30 minute/mile

I did a run with my running club this event and they were holding two events. The first one was Green Mile. It is the last mile of my local parkrun and you have to try and run it as fast as you can. The time on my watch said 7.27 but the results haven’t been posted yet. I was aiming for under 7 minute mile but we did a 2 mile warm up and I felt I…[Read more]

I had a nice run this morning and felt this run went really well. I got up at 5.30 to do this run at 6.45. I knew that it was going to be really warm by 9 which is why I thought I would get out there early and I am glad I did! It felt nice and cool around 6.45 but it’s a shame it didn’t stay like that, by 8am it was starting to get warm!

I was intending on doing a tourist parkrun today. I got up and had coffee and weetabix but I seemed to be feeling really tired and didn’t feel like it. I felt this run went well last night. The plan said to run at steady which is around 8:30 pace. I was doing this pace some of the time but it was a very warm evening and I was sweating loads.
